Faster iPhone with better camera coming in September: Report

SEATTLE – Apple's next iPhone will launch in September with a more powerful processor and a better camera, sources told Bloomberg Wednesday.

The phone will include the A5 processor that Apple added to the iPad2 and an 8-megapixel camera, which is an upgrade from the 5-megapixel camera in the iPhone 4. The phone will reportedly run on the iOS 5 operating system.

The sources also said Apple is testing a new iPad with a higher resolution screen.

iPhone, iPad2 likely to carry Apple quarterly report

Apple ( AAPL ), driven by strong performances of the iPhone and the iPad, is projected to report a strong second fiscal quarter Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reports .
INvestors have worried about the tech giant's supply chain after Japan's March 11 earthquake and ensuing tsunami pushed down shares of the Cupertino, California-based company. Other worries were caused by speculation that the iPhone would not be updated in the summer, as Apple typically does. And further concerns circled around speculation about shortages in production for the iPad2, which recently was released.
"While guidance (including gross margin) could negatively affect the stock, given current valuation we think the stock is attractively valued and would recover quickly," according to a client note by Keith Bachman of BMO Capital.
At 2:03 p.m. on Wednesday, Apple shares were up 2.05 percent to $344.78.
The iPhone and the iPad have been wildly popular devices, both serving as drivers of growth.
"We expect [June quarter] guidance below consensus and gross margin pressure due to Japan, but we believe this is priced into the stock," according to a note from Peter Misek of Jeffries.

iPhone, iPad2 likely to carry Apple quarterly report

iPhone, iPad2 sales boost Apple earnings

Kindle to add books from U.S. libraries

Owners of the Kindle from Amazon.com will be able to download e-books from 11,000 U.S. libraries later this year, the company said Wednesday. Most U.S. libraries already provide e-books, which work with nearly all e-readers except the Kindle. They're also accessible on many smartphones and tablets such as the iPad. Amazon.com Inc. says it's working with OverDrive Inc., which runs e-book systems for public libraries, to make the system compatible with the Kindle. According to OverDrive, Kindle e-books will have the same lending terms as existing library e-books. Most libraries lend their books out for three weeks at a time. The e-books on Kindle will no longer open after that period of time.

Investors buy homes at risk of foreclosure

Investors drove up U.S. home sales last month, plunking down cash to grab cheap homes at risk of foreclosure. But purchases made by first-time homebuyers, who are crucial to a housing recovery, fell. Sales of previously occupied homes rose in March to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.1 million, the National Association of Realtors said Wednesday. That's up 3.7 percent from 4.92 million in February. The pace is far below the 6 million homes a year that most economists say represents a healthy home sales market.

Washington Post offers custom news

The Washington Post Co., parent company of The Herald, is launching a news aggregation website called Trove that allows users to create their own news sites based on Facebook interests and customized subjects. Vijay Ravindran, chief digital officer of the Post Co., says the free website aims to be a first stop for news and a step toward understanding what the future of news looks like online. The site pulls users' interests from Facebook. Users also can create special channels on subjects they want to follow.

After the iPhone 4

Currently the iPhone 4 is hot and kicking despite the antenna problems causing bad reception among the millions of users that quickly picked one of the hot tech mobile phones up. But what is up next for Apple? Right when you think you've got them all figured out they release something new and incredibly amazing.

Take a step back into time. There was a time, where Apple was the weak pack of dogs among the major Tech Companies including Microsoft, Intel, Google, HP, Dell. Now they're at the front of technology. In the beginning they had a fairly nice design, but their OS, or operating system was far in superior to Microsoft's. They had those colorful monitors combined with computers. At the time it was a cool idea, lets save space by putting the computer and monitor all together into one masterful computer. But this was when monitors were big and LCD's didn't exist.

Then Apple came out with the first generation iPod. What an amazing feat. You could carry 20-100 mp3 songs without having any trouble navigating them because of the invention of the touch wheel built onto the iPod Device. From there they came out with many new generations such as the iPod Photo, the iPod Video, and then integrating it into a phone. All the meanwhile they invented an array of various similar devices. The difference was size, portability and hard drive space.

Now were at the point, and Apple is phenomenon. They have the entire nation gripped by the hands of their innovative products, especially the just recent, iPad. An amazing feat, that basically turns the computer into something we never experienced before. A more natural, barbaric version to navigate a computer which uses the most advanced technology to man today.

So what does Apple have for us in store next. It's quite easy to say. There will be a huge line of generations of the iPad, each one getting better display, faster browsing and multi-tasking...a feature which currently does not exist with the iPad. You can't open up Pandora and a note pad and use both at the same time. These two do not work side by side.

Besides generations of iPads to come, Apple is always inventing in the background. Something we have yet to see really from other companies, which makes Apple so awesome. The iPod, the iTouch, the iPhone, the iPad, all spectacular inventions withing the decade by one company. What other company has really done such a strong performance and effect on the world?

Hidden Gems in the App Store - 5 Awesome iPhone Apps

Apple's App Store is one of technology's modern marvels. With basement developers paving the way and now big-name developers getting in on the action, there is no end to what you might find popping up next in the App Store. While it's easy to find the Top 100 apps, many people don't have time to dig through all of the more than 100,000 apps to find the best of the rest. There are many hidden gems in the App Store -- apps that are addictive, funny, useful or innovative. Here are 5 of the apps that come to mind when considering the very best of what the App Store has to offer.

DoodleJump - It's been said that DoodleJump is to the iPhone what Super Mario Brothers was to the NES. This is one of the most mind-bogglingly addicting games out there, and is so because of its simplicity. As you move the device left or right, so moves your character as your try to hop from platform to platform, avoiding enemies and picking up power-ups as you go. With no limit as to how high you can go, DoodleJump will keep you busy and entertained for hours!

MyTown - Have you ever wanted to own real estate in your own town? With MyTown, now you can. MyTown offers the user the ability to purchase businesses and property within miles of where you live, all the while charging rent, expanding property lines and getting rich. While it may not be the most realistic idea in the world, it certainly is fun to play it out on your iPhone! With the inclusion of lottery tickets, there is no telling how much money you can make in MyTown.

Dizzypad - Similar to DoodleJump in its simplicity, Dizzypad continues to be one of the most addicting games available in the app store. You play a frog, who - rotating faster and faster as time moves on - is tasked with jumping from lily pad to lily pad and avoiding the water below. The game is deceptively easy to pick up and learn, only to get devilishly hard as you progress. You'll find yourself constantly trying to beat your last score each time you pick up Dizzypad, and likely won't put it down for an hour.

ADoodleFly - ADoodleFly is very similar in looks to DoodleJump, however it is a totally different game. Just as addicting in its own right, ADoodleFly puts the user in control of a flying character who is shot horizontally out of a canon and must ride the endless platforms that lay before him. With countless power-ups, a quirky story and very interesting graphics, ADoodleFly will fast become one of your favorite games in the App Store if it hasn't already.

Rope'n Fly 2 - Rope'n Fly 2 is one of the most unique games available in the app store. The game puts you in control of a dummy with the ability to shoot ropes wherever you touch your finger on the screen. Your job is to rappel from building to building in a horizontal cityscape without letting the doll fall to the ground. Surprisingly difficult with real fluid movement, you've never played a game quite like this before.

Why Is Being an iPhone Repair Person Better Than Selling iPhones?

Would you repair an iPhone if you could? What's wrong with being a Salesperson? Most people have a low or no regard for a salesperson of any kind. The generally public fears: being sold what they don't need or don't want. Conversely, the general public is constantly hunting for expert advice on just about everything. All the cooking shows, home remodeling shows, stock-picking shows and websites prove it.

As an iPhone repair person, if you said to someone: "I can fix that cracked screen for you, right now for $50, and I can unlock it for $40" - do you think the reaction would be positive or negative? Imagine if you said this: "I can upgrade you to a new iPhone right now - just sign this 30 page contract, and you're all set for the next two years". Can you read and "feel" the difference between the repair person and the sales person?

Why is the feeling toward the repair person warm, and toward the sales person cold?

1. Well, repairing something almost always means saving money while not losing a device you're familiar with - so "repair" can have warm fuzzy feelings attached.

2. At the same time, we all know the "sick to your stomach" image of signing on to another two years with a lousy company, just because it's a fast and easy way to take care of a broken phone problem.

3. We all know most sales people are trained only to talk you into making a purchase. Conversely, we all also have an almost "natural respect" for anyone who has mastered a difficult skill.

There's a new and huge industry emerging fast from our growing piles of broken devices of all kinds. The iPhone not only led a revolution in the evolution of the cell phone, it is leading us into this new industry as well - "The Durable Electronic Device Repair Industry". If you are thinking of a career change, you could probably not do better than to join this new industry.

The iPhone and iPod brought the touch screen into the mainstream. As hard as others tried, they couldn't seem to get their touch screens to perform like Apple was able to. However, that's changing fast. The day is coming when thousands of expensive devices will have broken touch pad screens. The demand is so high now, we can attract all the business we want, anytime we want. Imagine what the future will bring - a lot more demand!
